Poster Art Questions

Poster Art
Savannah College of Art and Designs Poster contest. Sequential art?

The contest for the poster challenge i was planning to enter in the sequential arts category and i was wondering if just had to be a picture or does it need a storyline or have 2 be in comic strip form?
So do i need to make it look like a page off a manga book or a manga picture that has words on it? please help

It needs to be sequential art – so it really can be anything you want it to be, so long as it’s truly sequential. It needs to be able to be read as a story, however you care to interpret that. So it could be in comic strip form, or like a manga book; but it needs to tell a story – so IMO, it probably could be one image, IF you can somehow create that image so that it reads sequentially – somehow, it has to tell a story. It has to be a narrative. If you can do that in just one image, that’s fine. If you need multiple panels, that’s fine. Sequential art is about visual storytelling, so no matter what, this has got to tell a story. That’s key to this. If you don’t have that, you won’t have a chance.

No matter what, this has to be your own original work. I saw another student posting and asking if it could be an image drawn from an existing tv show or similar – absolutely not. It has to be something original to you.

Here’s the guidance SCAD offers on sequential art re: this contest:
