White Rose Poster Questions

White Rose Poster
What color should I paint my room? I want it to look more mature and teenage.?

Im redecorating my room and I wanna be more mature. Im 16 but if you looked
at my room you would think I was 12.
My favourite colors are green, yellow and pink.
Right now its white and I have drawings on the walls from when I
was little, so Im covering them up with posters.
I have rose bud curtains which I hate!
But my mom loves them
As soon as I get my room painted Ill put up art instead of posters.

an older looking room is kinda typical but, a pale cream wall with a brown flooring, carpet or something…
then you can add your fav colours for things like blinds or curtains, bed covers etc
a mirror or two will change the look of your room, and a decent set up

Is A Santa Tradition A Good Or Bad Thing For Children?

Is starting a Santa Claus tradition in your household a healthy thing? I think so!  I was surprised to learn that there is a heated debate over Santa Claus on the web. I always assumed that most people in the United States grow up believing in Santa Claus. After all, every child I ever went to school with did. However, many people out there are genuinely against it stating that it’s bad to lie to your children.

They think that their children will call into question everything they have been taught including God. A few also claim to have been traumatized when they discovered that Santa was not real. I have never personally come across anyone who felt traumatized. People I know are happy to have had such magical childhoods and thank their parents for bringing so much joy to them.

One poster said that the Santa tale doesn’t enhance the joy of getting a gift. That really made me think. Getting a gift from my parents was always nice. They worked hard for their money, and took the time to go shopping as well as wrap the gift. I was thankful, of course. Let’s face it though, if that same gift had been made by elves at the North Pole, and a man flew in a sleigh to deliver that gift especially to me because I’d been good all year, it WOULD mean a lot more.

A few of the wilder postings include pointing out that the word “Santa” has the same letters as “Satan”, and that since he has magical powers he is evil and an agent of the devil. I don’t get how someone who works all year long making gifts to give to good children in honor of Jesus’ birthday can be deemed evil. When I was a child, I had no problems reconciling the abilities of Santa with Christian teachings. If all things are possible through God, then Santa being able to fly around the world one night a year is no different than Moses being able to part the Red Sea.

If you search online you will find that there are several studies that child psychologists have done on this. The main outcome is that it is a personal choice whether or not to have your child believe in Santa, and that your child will not be harmed either way.

However, they state that young children absolutely need a fantasy world to develop cognition and imagination. Learning to tell white lies is part of appropriate socialization. Do you know people who tell the absolute truth all the time? When they answer questions like, “Does this dress make me look fat?”, “Do you like the birthday gift I gave you?”, or “Daddy, did you enjoy my music recital?” with complete honesty do we appreciate it? Most likely they come off as being offensive and unlikable.

A white lie is defined as an untruth which is told to benefit the receiver. It is something which will bring them happiness or comfort. Professor Victoria Talwar at McGill University says, “Such “pro-social” lying shows that kids have developed sympathy and empathy, which are important aspects of social communication.” The central theme of the movie, Miracle on 34th Street, is exactly this. Natalie Wood’s character just isn’t fun to be around.

You should consider that the danger of being ostracized by peers is a real concern. Back in 1955, a little girl in my mother’s 1st grade class started telling everyone there was no Santa Claus. My mom remembers this girl not as being a proponent of truth, but as mean-spirited and jealous that everyone else was having fun while she was not. To this day at age 62, she still thinks of her as a villain out to spoil Christmas.

My parents and I never discussed the reality of Santa Claus, and he visited us every Christmas Eve that I lived at home. It was the same with my husband’s family, and we hope to do that with our children too. If asked if Santa is real, we have no compunctions saying that he is for there is a real Saint Nicholas of Myra, Turkey. We have not yet decided what to do if asked pointed questions like whether or not we leave the gifts.

As children, Santa teaches us what it is to perform kindnesses unconditionally. To do something nice with nothing but a desire to do good in the world and spread love. How could this ever be deemed a bad thing? The Santa Claus tradition has been ingrained in my family for centuries and I hope it will be for centuries to come. In fact, I submit that the Santa tradition is not just for Christians. Santa loves all children and has been known to visit for Yule, Diwali, Eid-ul-Adha, Hannukah, Bodhi Day, and many others. Enhance the magic of childhood for your children starting today!
